What Are P&G Water Purification Packets?
P&G Purifier of Water is a product that has been approved for use by the World Health Organization and is a registered disinfectant with the Environmental Protection Agency. The powder purifies unclean water and kills at least 99.9% of bacteria, viruses, and protozoa, while also causing suspended materials to sink to the bottom of the bottle or container.
In order to use a P&G Water Purification packet, simply pour the powder into the water and stir for about 10 minutes. After 30 minutes have passed after pouring in the water, the purification is complete. If possible, filter the water using a cloth or other materials before drinking.
Flocculation makes P&G water purification packets especially useful when dealing with cloudy or muddy water. While chlorine- and iodine-based products are effective at killing harmful microorganisms, they don’t use flocculation (chemical coagulants) to separate out suspended particles. In fact, cloudy or muddy water requires more water purification tablets to be used, or less water to be purified, because the suspended particles soak up the iodine or chlorine and render it less effective.
The packets are often used in the developing world to ensure people have access to safe, clean water. They are also popular for hiking, camping, or traveling to different countries. Like water purification tablets, each sachet is small, lightweight, and easy to carry. Also, since each sachet treats 10 liters of water, they can provide a person with enough water for both drinking and sanitation.
P&G Water Purification Packet Ingredients
The powder in P&G Purifier of Water packets has two main ingredients. The first is ferric sulfate, which is a coagulant that attaches to suspended materials in the water and forces them to settle at the bottom of the container. At the same time, P&G Purifier of Water’s second ingredient, calcium hypochlorite, disinfects the water by killing harmful microorganisms.
P&G Water Purification Packets Shelf Life
Each P&G Purifier of Water sachet is typically approved for use three years after the date of manufacture, and the expiration date will be printed on the packaging. When you order a P&G water purification packet from Business Connect, the expiration date will be noted in the product information. The sachets are made from water-resistant foil, which keeps the powder safe and ready to use when you need it.
