Since 2004, Sisters of DMI, after hardships, trails and struggles, has been well versed social developmental programs to empower the poor and the needy vulnerable women and children in Tanzania. Through our social care program, we have reached out more than 7800 rural women through SHGs, federation, microcredit and entrepreneurship programs, and 225 trafficked victims children through rehabilitation program, and 5500 street children, child labours through children parliament, child labour eradication programs and value based education support. Sisters have strengthened the spirituality of children at spring of hope, rehabilitation center and all trafficked victims children and staff are enjoying the atmosphere created in the campus with the drinking water facility with your special support of installing water purifier for the smooth running of all the activities at the center.
Water resources are very important for survivability and sustainability. Rehabilitation center of DMI used to purchase water from outside sources by paying a huge amount for the usage of center activities especially for children’s personal hygiene, drinking, cooking, washing, gardening etc. the purchased water was not sufficient and even Dawasco water (government water supply), which is coming for twice a week, is insufficient and contaminated for the usage of children’s activities and the children, who used this, have very often fallen for various epidemic disease and sicknesses due to unclean, unhygienic and contaminated drinking water and the treatment is also consuming a lot of money. So providing a safety healthy drinking water will prevent them from falling for various diseases. At present, 80 children (Trafficked victims and school going children) and 15 sisters are residing and find difficult to have safety drinking water within the campus. In spite of this, all children receive good education, vocational skill training, entrepreneurship skill training, life skills and other extracurricular activities in the center. In this situation, sisters approached and received a greater support from your benevolences and kindness to install a water purifier for the benefit of all children and staff in the campus.
Installed a water purifier/filter serves us in the following ways
- Drinking clean, filtered water protects the body from disease and leads to overall greater health among children and staff in the campus.
- It greatly reduces the risk of rectal cancer, colon cancer, and bladder cancer among children by removing chlorine and chlorine byproducts from drinking water.
- It provides clean, healthy water for cooking, as well as drinking, at the convenience of tap water.
We, the sisters of DMI, in the name of all children and staff express our heartfelt sincere gratitude and thanks for your valuable financial contribution to get accessibility to the healthiest drinking water as drinking pure water is especially important for children to safeguard their health and to develop their immune system against virus. The water facilities would enable our trafficked victims children, sisters and staff to have good health and to involve in the activity (health care, spiritual, vocational skill training and outreach programs) very actively and accomplishing their roles and functions very productively and fruitfully within the campus.
